Fighting for Safety, Defending Our Rights!

our ongoing fight.

March 22, 2025 - We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every single Calabasas resident, our extraordinary city council, and all of you who have contributed time, energy, and donations to this cause. Your collective support and dedication have been instrumental in moving our efforts forward, and we are incredibly grateful.

We’re also pleased to share a strategic update on our progress and next steps.

Thanks to the swift work of Greenberg Glusker LLP—who began working over the holiday weekend—we were able to reach a major milestone: the filing of the residents' complaint! Their team’s dedication helped to navigate a critical early phase of the legal fight. While it was initially planned to file a TRO if the City’s was denied, after reviewing the judge’s opinion, we recognized that additional evidentiary support would be necessary to move forward effectively.

Now that Phase 1 of the legal fight is complete with the residents' complaint in place, the focus is turning to Phase 2, which will require expert testimony and hard data. Continuing with the legal team is estimated to cost an additional $200,000—an amount that presents significant fundraising challenges.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to strategically pivot. The focus is now on working in alignment with the City’s legal case. The City’s injunction hearing will be in June. For more information, please see the City of Calabasas page.

In the meantime, there is collaboration with the city, residents, and university researchers to install real-time air quality monitors in key locations near our community and schools. This data will not only help mitigate exposure risks but also bolster efforts for lasting change.

There is also collaboration with the City to address truck violations, particularly those affecting parks and schools along Lost Hills and Las Virgenes. Enforcement and rerouting are active efforts being pursued.

We also want to recognize our City Council and Mayor Kraut, who have devoted immense time and passion to this issue. Their commitment is unwavering, and their legal case will be heard in June. We are proud to work alongside such dedicated representatives.

As Protect Calabasas, the goal remains to amplify awareness, strengthen networks through partnerships, and apply pressure at every level—county, state, and federal—to protect our community.

We welcome your input and ideas, and we’ll be updating our website with:

• A list of agencies and elected officials to contact

• Centralized access to public data dashboards

• Letters, reports, and developments as they happen

Thank you for continuing to show up, speak up, and support the shared mission to Protect Calabasas. Together, we are making a real difference.
